I was so excited to decorate my house this year for Christmas. We moved into our new house in the spring of 2013 and I now have a banister and a fireplace mantel that I got to decorate. I took to Pinterest to get ideas of how I wanted the banister to look. I decided I wanted to put swags on the railing, so this is what I did:

We are lucky enough to have several types of evergreen trees and bushes in our yard, but you can get the same materials from your local nursery. I went out and cut my evergreens and also some red twigs from a bush we have to add some color to my arrangement. I secured everything together with wire after laying my evergreens and twigs. Next I sewed a red wired ribbon onto burlap; both purchased from Joann’s Fabric store, and made bows for my swags. I like the wired ribbon because I can form the bow as I like. I attached the bows to the evergreens with wire. Using pipe cleaner I attached the swag to the railing.

Check back because I will be posting pictures and instructions for an Advent Calendar that my sister-in-law Caitie, and I each made!
